Answer

The escalating generation of waste in contemporary society is an urgent matter that requires attention. I hold the view that the issue stems from consumerism and inadequate waste management; however, by promoting sustainable practices and implementing effective policies, governments can play a crucial role in mitigating the problem.

Firstly, consumerism and the culture of disposable products play a significant role. Within the context of contemporary consumer-driven society, there exists a focus on convenience and the relentless quest for novel and enhanced goods, thereby perpetuating a cycle of rampant consumption and the subsequent generation of excessive waste. The prevalence of single-use plastics like packaging and disposable utensils, for instance, has contributed to the mounting rubbish problem. Additionally, the scarcity of recycling facilities, inadequate awareness and education regarding appropriate waste disposal, and ineffective waste collection techniques collectively contribute to the accumulation of refuse.

Nevertheless, political authorities can focus on raising awareness and educating the public about the environmental impact of waste. By promoting sustainable consumption patterns and responsible waste management practices, they can encourage citizens to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Moreover, governments can give priority to the implementation of efficient waste management systems, encompassing the establishment of extensive recycling infrastructure, enhancement of waste collection and sorting methods, and provision of support for innovative endeavors like composting and waste-to-energy initiatives. By investing in and ensuring the accessibility and efficiency of these systems, governments can provide incentives for individuals and businesses to embrace more effective waste management practices.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that the increase in rubbish production can be attributed to factors such as materialism and insufficient recycling facilities; nonetheless, to address this issue, governments should focus on raising public awareness, enhancing waste management infrastructure, and promoting recycling initiatives.
