In Writing Task 2, write a minimum of 250 words. If the word count is less than 250, you will get a lower band score because it is considered that you did not explain and elaborate your points well. But that does not mean that you should write a 350-word essay. Because, the lengthier your essay is, the more grammatical mistakes you might make and you’ll have less time for Task 1 (Report- if you’re appearing for the Academics and a Letter- if you’re appearing for the General training). Task An IELTS Essay (Writing Task 2) is worth 2/3 of your overall score, so it is recommended that you spend at least 40 minutes on it.
