Answer

In today’s fast-paced world, transportation plays a crucial role in a country’s development. Although some support for constructing new railways for high-speed trains between cities, others argue that existing public transportation should be prioritized. There are convincing arguments for both the sides, yet I believe the current public transport should be funded well to make it more efficient, accessible, and eco-friendly.

On one hand, investing more in the development of railway lines could stimulate economic growth by proliferating job opportunities in the construction and maintenance industry. The construction of the high-speed rail line between Beijing and Shanghai, for instance, led to the creation of numerous jobs.

On the other hand, improvement in mass transit would be a more practical and cost-effective approach since most citizens rely on this mode of transportation daily, which may further dwindle the number of private cars on the roads. For example, London’s public transport system has been improved by introducing new buses and trains, leading to a noticeable reduction in traffic congestion.

In my opinion, rapid transit should be ameliorated as it can cater to the needs of a larger population. Moreover, this approach is sustainable and eco-friendly because there will be a reduction in air pollution and traffic jams, which are the major contributor to environmental issues.

In conclusion, despite the fact that there are valid arguments for both constructing new railway lines and improving public transport, I firmly concur that prioritizing the enhancement of the current mass transportation system is the more practical and cost-effective approach that may further contribute to environmental sustainability as well.
