Extensive deliberation has taken place regarding motivating adolescents to engage in a gap year after completing secondary education, before commencing their university studies. Additionally, taking a gap year offers young individuals the chance to explore interests, and gain clarity about academic and career goals through firsthand experiences in various fields, steering to increased academic engagement and motivation upon entering university.

Nevertheless, an extended break from formal education results in a loss of academic momentum and a potential knowledge gap. Elaborating on this, when students delay their academic pursuits, they face difficulties in readjusting to the structured learning environment of the university. For example, after a year of travel or work, it is challenging to re-adapt to rigorous study routines and academic demands. Moreover, it may hinder career progression, particularly in competitive fields, as employers often prioritize candidates who have pursued a more conventional path of continuous education, which could limit job prospects and impede professional growth.
